2022-08-16

title

Edward Rosser (user handle in Tiger Community: @eddie314)
I am a student, studying law and commerce, aged 22, and I work part-time as a law clerk.

How many years of trading experience do you have?
Two years, I started in April of 2020, just after the big covid drop.
Where did you hear about Tiger Brokers?
Instagram ads.
How long have you been using the platform?
I’ve been investing for 3-4 months.
Where did you hear about the ‘Spot the Tiger’ campaign?
Instagram
Did you find it hard to spot Tiger's offline ads?
No, there’s an obvious and distinct colour profile.
Can you share your portfolio with us? What are you currently trading on the Tiger Trade app?
Mainly ETFs, a few mining stocks and just sitting on cash at the moment whilst the market is volatile, trying to find a good entry point.
What's a piece of advice you'd give a beginner investor?
Patience, just the process and continue to accumulate if you believe in the business long term.
What stocks or options are you watching right now? Why?
AAPL, MSFT, BABA – mainly watching tech stocks as they are starting to be more attractive and look like they could be good value.
What are the characteristics of your ideal stocks? For instance, if you had to choose right now, which U.S. stocks do you like best and why?
I look for high-margin businesses that have some growth left in them but are not trading at crazy multiples. MSFT is one I am watching at the moment; I think it still has some revenue and profit growth left to justify the price.
What are your opinions on global stocks in the next few months?
I think they will probably remain about even over the next few months, probably dipping down and returning back up.
Are there any memorable achievements that you have made in your investing journey? What did you learn from them?
I bought a Vulcan Energy in November of 2020 and sold it two months later for a good gain. It taught me that sometimes the market can make absolutely no sense.
Are there any mistakes you have made in your investing journey and what did you take from them?
Not trusting myself enough and committing too little, had I had more confidence in April of 2020 to invest larger amounts I could have made significantly more. I should have just trusted what I believed about the long-term outlook.
What's your investment goal in 2022?
Accumulate, try to grow my portfolio with even contributions across the year and trust that long term the market will perform.
