TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto landed at the Grupo 8 Alar Air Base, Jorge Chavez International Airport, Lima, Peru, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at around 10:35 p.m. local time. In Lima, the head of state will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
Peruvian Minister for Agrarian Development and Irrigation Angel Manuel Manero Campos, Indonesian Ambassador in Lima Ricky Suhendar, Commander General del Ala Aérea N° 2 Major General Julio Cesar Gutirrez Gonzales, and Vice Head of State Protocol of Peru Sandra Pinto La Fuente welcomed Prabowo at Jorge Chavez International Airport.
The Presidential Secretariat mentioned in a written statement that Prabowo was also greeted by a ceremonial guard who escorted him to a vehicle. From the airport, the Gerindra Party leader and his entourage headed straight to their designated hotel.
During his stop in Peru, Prabowo will conduct a state visit and attend the APEC Summit, as well as hold bilateral meetings with friendly countries.
Prabowo departed from Andrews Military Base, Washington DC, United States, at around 2:00 p.m. local time. During his time in America, President Prabowo held several meetings, including with U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House.
The 2024 APEC Summit raises the theme of "Empower, Include, Grow," which covers trade and investment for inclusive and interconnected growth, innovation, and digitalization to drive the transition towards a formal and global economy, and sustainable growth for resilient development.
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, who will accompany Prabowo in the APEC Summit meetings, mentioned that Indonesia will push for the group to strengthen the multilateral system.
"In this meeting, Indonesia is committed to supporting the World Trade Organization (WTO) and calling for APEC to strengthen the multilateral trading system," said Budi in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
