Hazer Group (ASX:HZR) said the Japanese patent office granted the firm a patent for a process related to the production of hydrogen from methane using iron oxide as a catalyst, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.
An application related to the process of producing hydrogen and graphitic carbon from hydrocarbons was accepted by the office in December 2024.
The firm is collaborating with Chubu Electric and Chiyoda on a commercial project, and it has a strategic partnership with Mitsui for graphite market development.
Its shares jumped past 11% in recent Thursday trade.
