Lear Buys StoneShield Engineering to Boost Automation Capabilities

Lear has acquired StoneShield Engineer, which designs and develops automation technology for the wire harness industry.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Based in Castelo Branco, Portugal, StoneShield's areas of expertise include robotics, automated taping applications and high voltage harness assemblies.

Lear Chief Executive Ray Scott said the deal will speed up the automation of the production processes throughout its E-Systems business.

Lear, a maker of car seats and other auto parts, also plans to develop new advanced technologies for its wire harness production.
