European Insurers Liked by North American Investors -- Market Talk

0751 GMT - European insurance names are liked by investors in Canada and the U.S., Berenberg says in a research note on the back of investor meetings. "While the European insurance sector may not present as simple an investment case as European banks, the large caps like Allianz, AXA, Munich Re, Zurich, Generali and Swiss Re provide a compelling combination of stable and sustainable earnings growth, growing dividend per share and recurrent buybacks, solid top-line growth and strongly capitalised and highly diversified business models," analysts write. The themes insurers are looking at include the benefit from strong macroeconomic conditions in the continent, the advantage of European insurers' business model--with largely unregulated pricing in P&C insurance--against their U.S. peers, they say.
