SES AI Corp (SES) stock surged over 10% in the previous 24 hours as the company unveiled a groundbreaking new product - the world's first battery using an electrolyte material discovered through its proprietary Molecular Universe AI technology.
The newly introduced 2170 cylindrical cell battery is designed specifically for emerging applications in the humanoid robotics and drone sectors. It combines the standard 2170 lithium-ion cell form factor with enhanced performance from SES AI's AI-discovered electrolyte, delivering improvements in low-temperature operation, high-rate capability, and reduced gassing and thermal risks.
According to SES AI CEO Qichao Hu, this AI-enhanced battery solves key issues faced by traditional lithium-ion batteries in high-energy applications. The company believes this new product opens up a significant $50 billion market opportunity in the rapidly growing robotics and drone industries by 2033.
