Fortescue (ASX:FMG) endorsed the proposed fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty, committing to a global phase-out of fossil fuels, according to a Jan. 24 statement from the miner.
The endorsement, accepted at the World Economic Forum, supports a call for clear deadlines to eliminate fossil fuel production, the company said.
Fortescue's Real Zero 2030 target, which aims to fully eliminate fossil fuel reliance without carbon offsets, aligns with the treaty's goals.
The company's climate transition plan has been independently assessed and showed alignment or partial alignment for all criteria, per the statement.
