Cleanaway Waste Management (ASX:CWY) said a "significant" fire has disrupted operations at its liquid waste processing facility in St Marys, New South Wales, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.

All employees and contractors are safe, and the facility is temporarily closed, the filing said.

Emergency authorities are managing the situation, and Cleanaway will start an investigation once control is returned, the filing added.

The company said it is coordinating with regulators for cleanup and arranging alternative facilities for affected customers.

Shares of the company fell past 2% in recent Wednesday trade.
