CK Hutchison Holdings (HKG:0001) has responded to media reports that it was considering spinning off its global telecom business and assets.
In a March 31 statement, the Hong Kong conglomerate said: "From time to time, the group receives proposals and explores and evaluates opportunities that may be available, with a view to enhancing long-term value to shareholders, including possible transactions relating to the assets and operations of the company's global telecommunication businesses."
A spin-off listing is among the options being considered, the bourse filing stated.
CK Hutchison said the board has not made any decision and cautioned that there is no certainty that a transaction would occur.
In other Hutchison news, the conglomerate will not proceed with the sale of its two port operations near the Panama Canal to a BlackRock-led consortium this week, Reuters reported, citing sources.
The development comes after China's market regulator said it would conduct an antitrust review of the Panama port deal in accordance with fair competition and public interest laws.
