Nasdaq futures jumped 80 points. Big tech stocks edged up in premarket trading despite White House plans to impose tariffs on semiconductor and pharmaceutical imports pushed US futures down.

Investors are still struggling to game out the economic spillovers of the trade war given the back-and-forth in negotiations. While US officials insist the tariff strategy is carefully constructed, critics see the trading order as subject to the whims of a transactional president. The White House on Monday announced trade probes into semiconductors and pharmaceuticals, seen as a precursor to imposing tariffs that threaten to broaden Trump’s sweeping US trade war.

Netflix stock up 2.2% as it aims to achieve a $1 trillion market capitalization and double its revenue by 2030, ambitious goals that show its growing heft as the largest global streamer.

Executives were optimistic about the company’s growth prospects at the streamer’s annual business review meeting last month, despite growing concerns on Wall Street about the economy and trade-policy uncertainty. They shared with senior staff ambitious goals for revenue, ad sales and operating income by 2030, according to the people who attended the meeting.
