BYD sold a record 72,723 vehicles overseas in March, an increase of 89.22 percent year-on-year and up 8.50 percent month-on-month.
In the first quarter, BYD sold 1,000,804 NEVs, an increase of 59.81 percent year-on-year but a decrease of 34.34 percent quarter-on-quarter.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) saw a further rebound in vehicle sales last month, as China's auto market gradually came out of the slow season at the beginning of the year.
The company sold 377,420 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in March, a year-on-year increase of 24.78 percent and an increase of 16.90 percent compared to February, according to data released today.
BYD stopped producing and selling vehicles powered solely by internal combustion engines in March 2022 and switched to focusing on producing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
BYD's NEVs include passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Passenger NEVs sold 371,419 units in March, a year-on-year increase of 23.14 percent and a month-on-month increase of 16.71 percent.
BYD sold 6,001 commercial NEVs in March, a year-on-year increase of 624.76 percent and a 30.09 percent increase from February.
Among the passenger NEVs sold in March, BEVs sold 166,109 units, a year-on-year increase of 18.73 percent and a 32.99 percent increase from February.
BYD sold 205,310 passenger PHEVs in March, a year-on-year increase of 26.95 percent and a month-on-month increase of 6.20 percent.

BYD's installed capacity of power batteries and energy storage batteries in March was about 20.347 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 72.99 percent and an increase of 21.87 percent compared to February.
