TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta will stop the production of dual-travel cards or Multi-Trip Cards (KMT) as a payment option by October 2024. Instead, MRT launched a Subscription Ticket for customers that can be accessed through the MyMRTJ application.

"This subscription ticket is like the tickets issued by PT KCI (commuter line company) in the past," said the Head of Commercial and Retail Division of MRT Jakarta, Rina Lilianova, at MRT Bundaran HI Bank DKI Station, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

Rina stated that the trial started last month and that her office facilitates the ticket-purchasing process for MRT Jakarta users through the application.

There are two types of subscription tickets based on the subscription period. Users can choose to subscribe for one week or one month.

"So far, the response from our trial participants has been quite good. Users are very interested in the convenience of the Subscription Ticket because they don't have to purchase every day," said Rina.

Meanwhile, users who still have a balance in their existing KMT can reimburse or liquidate the balance by visiting the nearest MRT stations. "Well, that's what we will replace with the Subscription Ticket that is directly accessible in the digital-based application," she explained.

Rina further stated that the new service aims to promote digital transformation. By discontinuing the KMT service and launching the subscription ticket service, MRT Jakarta also aims to encourage users to focus on using its digital services, which are more effective and efficient.

Currently, MRT Jakarta ticket sales through the application contribute up to 20 percent of total sales, she revealed.

In terms of the data presented, the number of MRT Jakarta users continues to grow significantly. The increase in passengers is 18.7 percent year-on-year (YoY), with more than 158,000 monthly active users on the MyMRTJ application. This number continues to grow with a daily reach of 120,000 people per day as of September 2024.
