Donald Trump appealed to Christian voters during a stop Monday night in Concord, N.C., saying his faith took on new meaning following the assassination attempt this summer. "I would like to think that God saved me for a purpose and that's to make our country greater than ever before," he said.
The former president, speaking to a room of religious leaders, said Vice President Kamala Harris would threaten Christian values if elected, leaning into his campaign's increasing attack on Democrats for supporting transgender rights. Trump also reprised his complaint that Christian voters, like gun owners, don't vote in accordance with their numbers. He boasted about naming three conservative Supreme Court justices, though didn't immediately link that with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He also vowed, if elected, to appoint a task force to fight what he called "anti-Christian bias."
