Another report will probably show that the University of Michigan's final reading on the overall index of consumer sentiment likely came in at 69 in October, compared with a preliminary reading of 68.9.

Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Susan Collins will participate in a fireside chat on the Boston Fed's portfolio of work, supporting the Fed's Congressional mandates, and how various sectors – private, public, philanthropic, educational, and nonprofit – can collaborate to enhance economic vitality before the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts Black Expo in Boston. New York Community Bancorp is expected to report a third-quarter loss, driven by a steep decline in interest income and increased provisions for credit losses stemming from its significant exposure to commercial real estate. Investors will closely monitor cost-saving measures and management's comments regarding further reductions in the lender's CRE loan portfolio.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to decide on approval for Iterum Therapeutics' oral drug to treat a type of urinary tract infection in women.
