Two people were taken to hospital after a large fire broke out at BAE Systems' nuclear submarine shipyard in northwest England, local police said.
Emergency services in Cumbria said the "significant fire" was reported after midnight on Wednesday in Barrow-in-Furness, where BAE Systems builds nuclear submarines.
"There is no nuclear risk," emergency services said in statement. "However, people living nearby are advised to remain indoors whilst emergency services respond to the incident and keep doors and windows closed."
The U.K. arms maker didn't respond to a request for comment.
Two people were taken to hospital over suspected smoke inhalation, but emergency services said there were no other casualties and everyone else had been evacuated from the Devonshire Dock Hall, a key building facility at the site.
The Devonshire Dock Hall is the tallest building in Cumbria and covers an area of about six acres, according to BAE Systems, making it the second largest indoor shipbuilding complex of its kind in Europe.
