  • Boeing (NYSE:BA) and European rival Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) (OTCPK:EADSF) will each receive part of a multi-billion-dollar order for long-haul planes from Taiwan’s China Airlines, Reuters reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
  • The carrier, which also is considering a purchase of freighter planes, has been weighing Boeing's 777X and the Airbus A350-1000 to replace a fleet of 10 Boeing 777-300ERs and to expand capacity.
  • China Airlines may order as many as 20 passenger planes, split almost equally between the two plane giants. The total value of the order would be about $4 billion with customary discounts, Reuters reported, citing data from a consulting firm.
