Air China (HKG:0753, SHA:601111) will be the first COMAC's C929 widebody aircraft customer, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing COMAC.
Designed to rival twin-aisle models from Airbus and Boeing, the C929 is currently under development. Liu Yan, COMAC's deputy director of marketing, made the announcement at China's largest air show in Zhuhai, the publication said.
Exact details of the deal, including the number of planes, were not revealed. The airplane manufacturer plans to deliver the first batch of planes by September 2027. The C929, formerly known as CR929, is expected to seat 280-400 passengers and cover a range of 12,000 km, Reuters said.
