KMD Brands' (ASX:KMD, NZE:KMD) unaudited sales revenue fell nearly 6% in the fiscal first quarter ended October, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.

Sales from the Rip Curl brand fell almost 7% during the quarter, while those from the Kathmandu brand slid about 3%, the filing said. Sales from the Oboz brand declined roughly 9% year on year.

However, the gross margin for the reported quarter was above the same period a year ago due to active cost management, as per the filing.

"The Group's first half results are dependent on the key Black Friday and Christmas retail trading periods to come. We remain cautious on consumer sentiment, given the challenging global macroeconomic environment," said Chief Executive Michael Daly.

KMD Brands' shares fell almost 3% in recent Tuesday trade in Australia and slipped past 1% in New Zealand.

Price (AUD): $0.38, Change: $-0.01, Percent Change: -2.56%
