Orix (IX) said Friday that the Kinokawa Energy Storage Plant in Kinokawa, Japan, will begin commercial operations on Sunday.
The plant, developed in partnership with Kansai Electric Power, features 64 lithium-ion storage battery containers with a rated output of 48 megawatts and a capacity of 113 megawatt-hour.
Kinokawa Energy Storage, a joint venture between Orix and Kansai Electric Power, will oversee operations, with KEPCO's E-Flow managing battery operations and market transactions, and Orix Renewable Energy Management will handle maintenance and operational duties, the company said.
Shares of Orix were up 4.1% in recent Friday trading.
