European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were lower late Tuesday morning, declining 0.38% to 1,348.76 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications company VEON (VEON) and biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS), which rose 1.9% and 1.5% respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP (EDAP) and financial services company Banco Santander (SAN), which were up 3.6% and 0.5% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG), which fell 5.8% and 4.7% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech (EVAX) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which lost 4.4% and 3.2% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and software firm Endava (DAVA), which increased 3.4% and 0.5% respectively. They were followed by BP oil and gas company (BP) and financial services company HSBC (HSBC), which rose 0.5% and 0.2% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which tumbled 16.4% and 13.1% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN) and biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which were down 3.6% and 2.1% respectively.
