KEY POINTS
Housewares are some of my favorite items to shop for -- I just love hunting for sheets, towels, candles, and more. And since I just bought a house of my own a few months ago, I've been going hard on these purchases.
Thankfully, I already had the perfect credit card to cover my trips to the hardware store and my favorite home furnishings store. Learn more about the Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card -- is it a fit for you?

This card's wide range of extra cash back options speaks for itself, with a choice of six bonus categories you can change monthly for 3% earnings in the category of your choice. And you can earn 2% back automatically at grocery stores and wholesale clubs. No annual fee and a nice welcome bonus also make this one a winner. Plus, if you're a Bank of America Preferred Rewards member, this card will be even more valuable for you.
The Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card is an excellent fit for my new life as a homeowner in two different ways.
The trick to this card is right in the name: "customized." You get your choice of 3% bonus categories, and you can change it up every month if you wish. If you're a homeowner, the one that should catch your eye is home improvement and furnishings.
Since I closed on my house, I've spent a lot of time and money at Lowe's, Home Depot, and At Home -- and I've earned 3% cash back on my purchases from these stores. Owning a home isn't cheap, but it makes me feel a bit better knowing that whether I'm buying new door locks, paint, or a fire pit for my backyard, I end up with cash back.
I also finally bit the bullet and joined Costco not long ago. There isn't a warehouse location particularly close to me, but I've placed orders from Costco.com and visited the store in person once so far, and I used this Bank of America card for all my purchases.
With it, I earn 2% cash back at warehouse clubs, which means money back on my bulk nonperishable goods -- and also Costco's selection of home decor and furnishings (which is vast). So far, I've added an adorable fuzzy blanket to my couch and scored an incredible deal on an animatronic alien for my front yard for future trick-or-treaters.
Even if you're not as into home decor and furnishings as I am (hey, it takes all kinds!), the Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card could still be a fit for you because its other 3% bonus categories and perks are worth a closer look.
The other five bonus categories you get to choose from every month are:
You also earn 2% cash back at regular grocery stores and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Your 2% and 3% earnings are capped at $2,500 of spending each quarter (you earn 1% cash back on these categories once you've hit this threshold).
I've had this card in my wallet since 2018, and no matter what was happening in my life, it was always one of my regular go-tos. When I drove a lot more frequently, I had my bonus category set to gas, and before I became a homeowner, I used it for all my non-Amazon online shopping. In short, it's a versatile card -- and comes without a $0 annual fee.
Annual fee cards offer great perks -- but if you want high bonus rates for free, check out our favorite no annual fee cards.
If you're a Bank of America Preferred Rewards member (meaning you're deeply embedded in the Bank of America ecosystem and have a lot of money in bank accounts and Merrill investment accounts), this card is even more valuable. You'll earn 25% to 75% more, depending on your account balances with Bank of America.
The Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card could be a solid fit for just about anyone -- even if the thought of spending a Saturday afternoon looking for home decor doesn't appeal to you. I recommend checking it out.
