Micro-X (ASX:MX1) has produced its first full three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) images using its miniature X-ray tube array, high voltage switching, and imaging software, according to a Friday filing with the Australian bourse.

The images showed the skull and soft tissue structure of the brain of an anthropomorphic head phantom, the filing said.

The achievement, showcasing detailed brain anatomy, provides an AU$500,000 payment under the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) program.

The technology company is now focused on manufacturing hospital test benches to support its application for ethics approval, with human clinical trials scheduled to begin in early 2025, the filing added.

Micro-X Head CT system delivers a radiation dose about one-third of that from conventional head CT scans, well below annual radiation exposure limits for the general public.

The company's shares fell past 3% at market close.
