The chairman and chief executive of Lightwave Logic has retired, with replacements for each role already in place.

The photonic-device developer said Wednesday that Michael Lebby formally retired from the top roles a day prior.

Yves LeMaitre, a board member and a veteran of the optical communications industry, has been appointed to the role of CEO. Ronald Bucchi, the board's lead independent director, has been named non-executive independent chairman.

James Marcelli, Lightwave's chief operating officer, will also serve as the company's finance chief.

Lightwave has also tapped former CEO and Chairman Thomas Zelibor to be its president.
