The S&P 500, the Nasdaq Composite and the Dow Jones Industrial Average were down slightly in late-morning trading as the week comes to a close.
In company news, Broadcom (AVGO) reported fiscal Q4 non-GAAP net income late Thursday of $1.42 per diluted share, up from $1.11 a year earlier and above the $1.39 consensus estimate of analysts surveyed by FactSet. Fiscal Q4 revenue was $14.05 billion, up from $9.30 billion in the year-ago period but below the FactSet consensus of $14.07 billion. For fiscal Q1, the company is forecasting revenue of around $14.6 billion, above the FactSet consensus of $14.55 billion. Broadcom said its board raised the quarterly dividend by 11% to $0.59 per share, payable on Dec. 31 to stockholders of record on Dec. 23. AVGO shares were up almost 19% in recent trade.
Charles Schwab (SCHW) said Friday it expects full-year 2024 net revenue growth of 3% to 3.5% from the prior year, up from its prior forecast of 2% to 3%. Shares were dropping nearly 4% in late-morning trade.
Costco Wholesale (COST) reported fiscal Q1 earnings late Thursday of $4.04 per diluted share, up from $3.58 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus estimate of $3.79. Fiscal Q1 revenue was $62.15 billion, up from $57.80 billion in the year-ago quarter but below the FactSet consensus of $66.52 billion. COST shares were gaining almost 1% recently.
Affirm (AFRM) struck a capital partnership with Sixth Street, which will invest up to $4 billion in the buy-now, pay-later service provider's loans over the next three years, the companies said Friday. Shares were gaining 1.3% in recent trade.
