Boeing (BA) said Thursday it will invest $1 billion to upgrade its facility in Charleston County, South Carolina, creating 500 new jobs over the next five years.
Expansion at the two North Charleston campuses will support the company's plan to increase production rates of the 787 Dreamliner that entails reaching 10 planes per month by 2026, the company said.
The upgrades are expected to be operational by early 2027, it added.
