0913 GMT - Renault would benefit from a merger between its partner Nissan and Japanese peer Honda, Jefferies analysts write. The two Japanese carmakers said Wednesday that they are exploring a merger or deepening existing collaboration. Jefferies analysts see mostly positive implications for the French carmaker. The tie-up could create an exit route for Renault from Nissan, the analysts write. Renault recently agreed to reduce its stake in Nissan to 15%--from more than 43%--and the combination may enable Renault to reduce its stake for a higher price, they write. Alternatively, Renault could retain a stake in the new business and benefit from synergies and improved return prospects, the analysts write. Shares trade up 5.2% at 46.81 euros.
