Miner South32 (ASX:S32) said road blockages have largely cleared in Mozambique, enabling the transport of alumina from the port to Mozal Aluminium, with no security incidents reported onsite, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
The company has reduced amperage to potlines to preserve raw materials and maintain operational stability, the filing said. If ongoing disruptions occur in trucking raw materials to the smelter, further mitigating actions may be needed, including curtailing potlines at the smelter.
The company expects to rebuild alumina stocks at the smelter in the coming days if trucking conditions remain favorable, according to the filing.
Shares fell more than 1% in midday trade Thursday.
