TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Jakarta Metro Police have banned convoys of vehicles on 2025 New Year's Eve. “With an intention to protect the residents, we declare convoys of vehicles prohibited,” said Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi in a written statement on Wednesday, December 25.

The convoy ban, said Ade, aims to ensure safety and order in public places. As a follow-up to the ban on convoys of vehicles on New Year's Eve, Ade confirmed the plan to block some roads within the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Metro Police.

According to Ade, the ban on vehicle convoys during New Year’s Eve lines up with the directives of Jakarta Metro Police chief Karyoto.

“Let's do positive activities within the respective spaces [for New Year’s Eve],” said Ade.

Ade said the police will only pursue legal enforcement if necessary, thereby advising all residents to heed the rule.

“So, don't do things that can potentially cause security disturbances,” said Ade, while pleading with the residents to help support the effort to maintain the conducive situation ahead of the new year.
