0940 GMT - Singapore shares ended higher, with the Strait Times rising 0.6% to 3795.73. Markets are expected to stay relatively quiet as the New Year holiday approaches. Investors are also awaiting economic data releases, including Singapore's 4Q advance GDP estimates due Thursday. Among major stocks, banks led the gains, with OCBC Bank adding 1.1%, UOB rising 0.9% and DBS up 0.7%. Decliners included GSS Energy, which slid 6.7% and Helens, which fell 4.5%.
