Consumer stocks were mixed late Tuesday afternoon with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) little changed and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) down 0.5%.
In corporate news, Tyson Foods (TSN) plans to reopen its Camilla, Georgia, meat plant in phases following a fire last week that resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, Bloomberg reported. Tyson shares added 0.4%.
Amazon.com (AMZN) is facing legal action over claims that it misused employee 401(k) forfeitures to offset its own contributions, breaching federal fiduciary duties under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Amazon shares eased 0.3%.
Vera Bradley (VRA) shares rose 2.1% after its largest shareholder, Fund 1 Investments, called for the company to explore alternatives, including a potential sale or privatization.
MySize (MYSZ) shares fell 3.2%. The company said investors late last week exercised warrants to buy 653,028 shares, generating about $3 million in gross proceeds.
