Tech stocks were mixed late Thursday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) decreasing 0.3% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) climbing 1.4%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index rose 1%.
In corporate news, SuperCom (SPCB) shares surged 54% after the company said it secured two new contracts with unnamed agencies in Kentucky to deploy public safety technologies.
Aware (AWRE) shares fell 14%. The company said its board has named the company's Chief Financial Officer David Traverse as interim chief executive.
Synaptics (SYNA) shares jumped past 7% after the firm said it's working with Alphabet's (GOOG) Google on Edge AI for the Internet of Things to define the optimal implementation of multimodal processing for context-aware computing. Alphabet shares were fractionally higher.
Nvidia (NVDA) invested $1 billion in AI companies last year in deals that ranged across 50 start-up funding rounds and numerous corporate agreements, the Financial Times reported Wednesday. Nvidia shares rose 2.5%.
