Sparc Technologies (ASX:SPN), Fortescue (ASX:FMG), and the University of Adelaide decided to proceed to the second stage of a joint venture for the production of hydrogen via photocatalytic water splitting, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.
The second stage will focus on pilot plant construction as well as reactor testing along with ongoing laboratory testing.
The completion of the pilot plant construction is expected in mid-2025, which will allow the venture to test different reactor designs and photocatalyst materials.
Engineering, procurement, and construction management contract for the plant is under review, the filing added.
Sparc Technologies' shares were up more than 14% in recent Tuesday trade.
