Archer Materials (ASX:AXE) improved the electron spin lifetime of its manufacturable quantum carbon film to 800 nanoseconds, up from 385 nanoseconds, under certain synthesis conditions, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
It also improved the carbon film's sample-to-sample repeatability and uniformity, the filing said.
The firm will now look to reproduce this result with silicon or quartz chips and then ensure the repeatability of the results between sample chips.
The result brings the company closer to commercializing the film in quantum devices such as qubits and quantum magnetic sensors.
Its shares jumped 8% in recent trade on Wednesday.
