SINGAPORE, Jan 15 (Reuters) - BDx Data Centers, the largest data centre operator in Indonesia, is aiming to open a dozen data centres in the Southeast Asian nation with a target of 250 megawatts of capacity within the next two years, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

That is in addition to the fifth data centre the company launched in Indonesia, Southeast Asia's largest economy, on Wednesday. Financial details were not disclosed in the statement.

BDx is an Asia Pacific data centre operator backed by U.S.-headquartered infrastructure investor I Square Capital, which manages over $40 billion in assets globally, according to its websites.

BDx's expansion plans in Indonesia come at a time when investor appetite for data centres is growing in Asia, driven by demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing-based services.

BDx also said in the statement that it had partnered with the Association of Indonesia Internet Service Providers to enhance the country's digital infrastructure.
