Rio Tinto Group (ASX:RIO) temporarily shuttered its railcar dumper at the East Intercourse Island in Western Australia following flooding caused by tropical cyclone Sean last Jan. 20, according to a Friday statement from the company.

The facility, which supports the shipment of ores from the mining firm's Pilbara operations, is expected to close for three to four weeks as assessments continue. Meanwhile, most rail and port operations have resumed in the area, the company said.

Rio Tinto expects the event to impact its shipments for the first quarter of the year while maintaining its full-year shipment guidance. An update on the matter will be disclosed as part of its full-year results on Feb. 19.
