Diageo Could Spinoff, Sell Guinness Beer in Portfolio Review, Bloomberg Says, Citing Unnamed Sources

-- Diageo could dispose some of its subscale or underperforming labels, as the company struggles with the cooling demand in China and the U.S., Bloomberg reports citing people familiar with the matter.

-- Among the possibilities, the company could be weighing the potential sale or floating of its premier beer brand Guinness, which is likely to be valued above $10 billion, according to Bloomberg.

-- The U.K. spirits maker, which is due to report its earnings in February, could also abandon or cut its growth target in order to bring market expectations to a more realistic level, Bloomberg reports citing unnamed investors and analysts.

-- Diageo declined to comment to Bloomberg.
