Financial stocks were leaning lower premarket Friday, with The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) down 0.2%.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was down 0.9% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 0.7% higher.

Lakeland Financial (LKFN) shares were up over 1% after the company reported lower Q4 core operational earnings and revenue that still topped analyst expectations.

American Express (AXP) shares were down more than 1% even after the company reported higher Q4 earnings and revenue.

First Citizens BancShares (FCNCA) were up over 1% even after the company reported lower Q4 adjusted earnings and revenue.
