Health care stocks were rising Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index adding 0.8% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) up 0.3%.
The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) eased 0.3%.
In corporate news, Novo Nordisk (NVO) shares jumped 8.2% after it said Friday that its investigative weight loss drug amycretin led to a body weight reduction of up to 22% in an early-stage trial.
HCA Healthcare (HCA) reported Q4 adjusted earnings Friday of $6.22 per diluted share, up from $5.90 a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter was $18.29 billion, up from $17.30 billion a year earlier. Its shares were shedding 3.5%.
Allurion Technologies (ALUR) shares surged past 122%. The company said Friday that it signed a definitive agreement with institutional investors for the sale of 1.24 million common shares at $6 per share through a registered direct offering for proceeds of $7.4 million.
