0826 ET - Metro CEO thinks that currency dynamics may be among the most critical challenges of the year ahead. In an earnings call, CEO Eric La Fleche says he sees a lot of noise in 2025, made worse by volatility and uncertainty, but the biggest concern is a weak domestic currency which could inflate prices for shoppers at checkout. Increasing food prices have been a major theme among Canadian consumers, changing trends of how consumers shop and what they buy. "The weakening Canadian dollar is our biggest concern, especially this time of year when we buy product from the U.S. or priced in U.S. dollars from other sources," La Fleche says.
