Information-technology and consulting-services company CGI on Thursday signed a deal to buy IT services firm Novatec, a specialist in software engineering, digital products and strategic business and consulting services in Germany and Spain.

The proposed acquisition is the second announced by CGI this week. The Montreal, Quebec-based company on Wednesday also struck a deal to buy U.K.-based technology-and-engineering consultancy BJSS. The value of neither deal was disclosed.

CGI said Novatec's products in application performance management will complement its existing portfolio, which it says enables clients to accelerate digital innovation through new technologies such as artificial intelligence.

More than 300 IT and consulting staff from across Novatec's eight offices in Germany, as well as from Granada, Spain, will join CGI and strengthen its footprint in the manufacturing and financial services sectors, with a special focus on the automotive industry and e-mobility, CGI said.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in March.

The acquisition of BJSS will bring in more than 2,400 consultants and professionals who CGI said will deepen its operations across the U.K. in industries such as retail, health, government, financial services, and energy and utilities.
