Nanoveu (ASX: NVU) has appointed globally respected industry leader Mark Goranson to head up its semiconductor technologies division.
With more than 40 years of semiconductor commercialisation experience, Mr Goranson has worked in senior positions for industry giants in such areas as wafer fabrication, assembly and operations testing, factory construction and large-scale manufacturing.
He has also been employed in senior management roles with global companies Freescale Semiconductor and Intel Corporation and held executive roles with Honeywell, Magfusion and PowerTek International.
Mr Goranson most recently served as vice president (global operations) for the $73 billion market cap company TE Connectivity, which produces a multitude of different sensor technologies and semiconductor sense elements.
In this role, he was instrumental in strengthening the Swiss company’s market position by delivering products with superior precision and reliability while ensuring scalability to meet global demand.
Prior to this, Mr Goranson held the role of senior vice president (global operations) for ON Semiconductor, where he managed 22 facilities worldwide with a team of 26,000 employees and 3,000 contract workers engaged in semiconductor production.
Mr Goranson’s appointment at Nanoveu marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into semiconductor innovation ahead of its acquisition of semiconductor business Embedded AI Systems (EMASS), which received shareholder approval in December.
His experience in managing complex manufacturing operations and hands-on approach to market expansion and operational scalability are expected to facilitate the transformational deal.
Mr Goranson will lead technology development and commercialisation efforts for EMASS’s ultra-low-power system-on-a-chip technologies, driving growth across multiple applications.
Nanoveu chair Dr David Pevcic welcomed Mr Goranson to the company.
“Mark has consistently been at the forefront of technological transformation, operational excellence and innovation during his 40 years in the semiconductor industry,” he said.
“His leadership will be instrumental in advancing our strategy to develop and commercialise highly efficient, on-edge semiconductor technologies and unlock new opportunities in high-growth markets.”
Mr Goranson said he was keen to bring his experience to the “ambitious and forward-thinking company.”
“EMASS’s ultra-low-power semiconductor technology has remarkable potential to transform AI-enabled hardware and address a critical industry need for more efficient edge computing,” he said.
“I am committed to helping Nanoveu achieve its full potential, driving innovation with the goal of enabling mass adoption across a wide range of AI-powered applications.”
