Alibaba Group Holding (HKG:9988) released a new artificial intelligence model that it said is better than DeepSeek, according to a Wednesday press release by its cloud computing unit.
The cloud computing unit of the internet giant launched Qwen2.5-Max, which exceeds 20 trillion tokens and shows "extremely strong comprehensive performance," according to Alibaba.
Qwen2.5 Max "almost completely surpasses GPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3 and Llama-3.1-405B," the company said.
DeepSeek launched its free, open-source large language model last week. It claims it uses fewer data than existing services.
The new model is comparable to the official version of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, it said.
