An American Airlines (AAL) flight collided in midair with a helicopter as it approached Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday night, the FAA said.
In a statement on X, American said it was aware flight 5342, operated by its regional brand American Eagle, "has been involved in an incident."
The company said it would provide information as soon as it becomes available.

The DC Police Department said in a statement on Wednesday there was a search and rescue operation ongoing in the Potomac River.
