Kazatomprom said it obtained a new license for uranium exploration at the Inkai-Mynkuduk block in the Suzak district of Turkestan, Kazakhstan.

The world's top uranium producer on Thursday said the exclusive license allows uranium exploration for six years with a possibility of a five-year extension.

The Kazakhstan state-owned miner said preliminary data shows that inferred uranium resources are estimated at more than 20,000 tons.

"Our estimates provide comfort for the block's potential, marking Inkai-Mynkuduk as a promising asset for long-term development," Chief Executive Meirzhan Yussupov said.
