Arizona Lithium (ASX:AZL) is set to invest AU$35 million as capital expenditure for the first phase of the Prairie Lithium Project in Canada as it implemented a phased development plan, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.
The first phase will see the start of production using a commercial-scale direct lithium extraction unit capable of producing 150 tonnes-per-annum lithium carbonate equivalent.
The lithium produced will be used to de-risk end-market opportunities, with battery-grade samples to be tested by interested parties in Asia. It will process brine at a rate of around 1,000 cubic meters per day.
The second and third phases will involve the expansion of production.
