Credit Agricole's largest shareholder, SAS Rue La Boetie, said it intends to increase its stake in the French bank this year, but that it doesn't plan to increase its holding beyond 65%.
The holding company said Wednesday that it was planning to buy Credit Agricole shares for a maximum of 500 million euros ($519 million) by the end of the third quarter.
SAS Rue La Boetie is owned by Credit Agricole's regional banks. It currently holds 62.7% of the bank's share capital.
