Korea Electric Power (KRX:015760) subsidiary Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) inked a 10-year enriched uranium supply agreement with US-based Centrus Energy, Yonhap News reported Wednesday.
The move aims to diversify KHNP's nuclear fuel sources, the report said.
Following this deal, KHNP is now importing nuclear fuels from the US, France, Russia, Britain, and China. Between 2020 and 2024, KHNP imported 2,077 tons of uranium from France (38%), Russia (32%), Britain (25%), and China (5%), it said.
Shares of Korea Electric Power rose nearly 1% at market close on Thursday.
