Wall Street futures pointed moderately lower pre-bell Wednesday after tech titans Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) posted tempered earnings and forecast reports after-bell Tuesday.
Alphabet shares traded down 6.9% in morning hours, while chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices shares declined 8.2%.
In the futures, the S&P 500 fell 0.5%, the Nasdaq declined 0.9% and the Dow Jones was off 0.2%.
Asian exchanges traded unevenly overnight, while European bourses edged sideways midday on the continent.
Disney (DIS), Boston Scientific (BSX) and Uber Technologies (UBER) plan to report earnings pre-bell, among others.
On the economic calendar is the weekly MBA mortgage applications bulletin at 7 am ET, followed by the January ADP private-sector employment report at 8:15 am.
The international trade in goods and services bulletin for December posts at 8:30 am ET, followed by the S&P Global PMI composite final for January at 9:45 am, and then the ISM services index for January at 10 am.
The weekly EIA domestic petroleum status report posts at 10:30 am.
Richmond Federal Reserve President Thomas Barkin speaks at 9 am, Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee at 2:30 pm, Governor Michelle Bowman at 3 pm, and Vice Chair Philip Jefferson at 7:30 pm.
In premarket action, Bitcoin traded at $97,918, West Texas Intermediate crude oil traded lower at $72.20, and 10-year US Treasuries offered 4.47%.
Spot gold traded for $2,874 an ounce, testing fresh record highs.
