Baidu (HKG:9888) Chief Executive Robin Li said data center and cloud infrastructure investment is still required despite DeepSeek's entry, which has challenged the cost efficiency of large artificial intelligence models, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Investments are needed, and businesses need to use more compute "to come up with models that are smarter than everyone else," Li said during the World Government Summit in Dubai.

Compute entails the hardware needed to make AI models run, helping them train on data, process information, and generate predictions, according to the newswire.
