Toho Co.'s (TYO:9602) production and distribution division recorded 7.85 billion yen in box office revenue in January, a 26.4% increase from a year earlier, according to a Wednesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The strong performance was supported by releases such as The Rose of Versailles, Under Ninja, and Doctor-X The Movie. Other notable films included Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, Solitary Gourmet, and Saint Young Men The Movie.
Toho's box office revenue in January 2024 stood at 6.21 billion yen, while the company posted full-year earnings of 91.34 billion yen that year.
